'Come Upstairs' by In Earnest - New Single Release

Hi guys, welcome back to another blog I trust you are all doing well. Another little delay in getting a post out, I have recently returned to work after a long furlough period so haven’t found the time to write recently. But we’re back with another blog today, reviewing a newly released single by the band ‘In Earnest’ titled ‘Come Upstairs.’ Now this band I have actually already reviewed in the past, when they released their debut single ‘Put Me Under’ a few months ago, so it is very nice too know that I’m doing a good job and people want more reviews. Just to recap the band come from Southend on Sea and formed in 2019, they focus on a very honest and raw sound aiming a lot of what they produce at topics such as depression, anxiety and so on. I was very taken by the band’s first piece back in April so I could barely contain my excitement when the band reached out to me again. The raw and honest nature of the band’s lyrics and melodies finds it very easy to understand and allows listeners to relate to the music as the topics are very common among most people in today’s world.

Anyway on with the review as always; today the band released their second single ‘Come upstairs’ and it definitely cements the bands' position in terms of genre and topic. A very mellow but uplifting guitar intro creates a very chilled out vibe; proper nice! Instantly the song has a Glasvegas sort of vibe in the way the song is structured. Beautiful harmonies really pull the song together. What is particularly good about the song is that in hindsight it’s a pretty simple song, nothing majorly difficult about it but the song remains enchanting and excellent. It doesn’t go unnecessarily over the top with anything, it remains at a certain pace, and with the quality of the lyrics ‘In Earnest’ has managed to create another brilliant song. Initially, the song made me feel sad, but in a good way if you catch me drift, a lot of bands in fairness can create beauty through sadness but it is a very difficult thing to master and I honestly believe these guys have. Another major difference from their first single is that we have a change in singer, which just shows how talented these guys are that at least two of the members are gifted singers. After initially hearing ‘Put Me Under’ all those months ago I was certain at the time that it would continue to be my favourite song of theirs no matter what they released, but I was wrong. The band have proven that I need to be excited about everything they release because, based on their first two, anything they do will be genius.

Please make sure to go and check them out in the links below, this is a band you need to hear. I hope you enjoyed the blog and please make sure to share it and leave a comment below as it really helps me out. I hope everyone is staying safe and keeping well and I will be back with another post very soon. Until then, peace.
