Welcome back everyone; apologies that I haven't posted in a while but been busy with self-isolation stuff, hope all of you guys are taking care and staying safe. Obviously, all the gigs I had lined up have either been cancelled or rescheduled so over the next few weeks I am going to be reviewing some of the best-hidden talents I know (some you may know). Kicking off today's blog we have the band 'The Lovepools' who have recently contacted me via Instagram. This is by far the most excited I've been to blog about a band and hopefully, you guys will understand why. In their own words this is how the band describe themselves;
"The Lovepools are a Los Angeles indie rock band first formed in 2017. After releasing two EP's they released their first single, "See You In The Funny Papers" which appeared on Showtime’s “Shameless” Season 9 Premiere. Their latest must video and single, “White Lies & Palm Trees” is a departure from their guitar-based indie-rock roots into a dreamy synth-pop sound. Inspired by bands like Foster The People and Empire Of The Sun, singer, Anthony Shea confesses his monotonous experiences around the streets of LA: red lights, daydreams, white lies, palm trees, rinse, repeat..."
Very interesting stuff, I am a fan of both Foster the People and Empire of the Sun so you can tell why I am so excited to listen to these guys. Now, I have seen the entire of Shameless and I admit I did have to go and find that episode and listen to the song and I actually found myself singing along; crazy. The band released their first album 'The Catch' in 2018, this album features 7 songs. Their single 'White Lies & Palm Trees' is an absolute 10/10 banger and by far the best song that I have discovered through doing this blog; the music video is outstanding. The song brings a very relaxing vibe and holds a very close correlation with bands such as Foster the People which they mention above. It's a definite playlist banger which you guys need to save. The music video incorporates a mixture of in real life cinematography and video game animation, its a truly amazing combination. I also found a video on YouTube of the band performing 'See You In the Funny Papers' and they seemed to produce a strong performance and what seemed like a fairly small venue. The lead guitarist/lead singer, the bass player and the drummer all produced a very good sound that you don't normally get from bands in such small venues. Not to mention the song is a banger! This song reminds me a lot of the band Circa Waves (British Indie Rock band), both bands share a similar style and sound. 'See You In The Funny Papers' is a very strong piece of music for a band's first single, and I can see why that song would feature in such a hit television series; again another playlist banger. Very strong vocals accompanied by a strong guitar riff and very well structured drum sound.
On their album 'The Catch' they have 7 songs; 'The Catch', 'Safely in My Loveseat', 'A Dixie Cup to Save You', 'I Should Be Fallin' in Love with You', 'See You in the Funny Papers', 'Animal Instinct' and 'I Might Jump Off the Deep End If You're Mine'. The album is an extremely strong collection of music, with songs that deserve to be heard by all music lovers. My personal favourite is 'A Dixie Cup to Save You', which contains a beautiful piano piece in it which is always a pleaser for me. It is a very well structured piece of music from start to finish and contains one of the most incredible choruses to a song that I have heard since I began my musical journey. I'm making a plea to all my viewers to please go and check these guys out, you're missing out otherwise on a truly amazing and talented band. Another song on the album which is definitely worth a listen to is 'Animal Instinct' which takes a slightly more upbeat and indie rock vibe to 'A Dixie Cup to Save You' which is slightly more mellow and chilled. Another very strong music video which proves how much effort this band are putting into creating a unique experience for their viewers/listeners. The song again is very well put together and has a very similar sound I think to the Killers.
I strongly suggest to anyone reading this who enjoys indie music to go and give these guys a follow and get listening to them because they are seriously good. I am thrilled that my blog is reaching bands all over the world and I hope they feel I have done them justice in this blog. I'll leave their links below so go and give them a follow and listen. Make sure to also like this blog and share it around as the more views I get the bigger I get and the faster my webpage grows. Stay safe guys during this difficult time and remember to stay home, I am sure life will return to normal very soon. Peace guys.
