Today’s blog I’m going to be reviewing a few songs from a band I’ve noticed recently called Hi, Charity. The first thing that sprung to mind when listening to them for the first time was that they are very similar to the 1975, alternative indie. Whilst their music isn't harsh and in your face like indie rock bands it's more aimed at making people dance and party, which I love. Hi ,Charity are a 4 piece band residing in Liverpool and they focus on alternative indie led by their front man Rob Langford. They have had a wide mixture of success in their early development such as in and around their local area, festivals and have even made an appearance on BBC Introducing. I'm excited to hear more from these guys in the next few years and seeing how far they go, which I have no doubt will be a long way.

The first song I’ll be reviewing is the bands smash hit ‘Down’ which I instantly added to my saved playlist on Spotify. The song begins with a very pop type beat, and then a drum beat is introduced on top of the pop beat which builds the song up very well. Then at the point where the melody begins, the pop sound dies leaving the drums and the melody playing, very effective. The song continues with a very fun and energetic vibe, the lyrics are amazing! A mixture of slow and fast melody brings the whole song together extremely well. This is the type of song that would get an audience on their feet and dancing. The constant fluidity throughout the song makes this a must-listen for me. An easy 9/10 in my book.

Now we move on to another track called ‘Dopamine’ which begins with a nice 30-second intro with a mixture of drums, guitars and synthesizers which fades beautifully into the melody. The lead singer’s voice perfectly goes with this type of music, very elegant. Another very energetic and fun vibe is provided through the song. The melody goes perfectly with the beat, and continues to provide a nice and positive vibe, I listened to this like I’d known it all my life. I’m not normally a fan of alternative indie music because I’m that engrained in indie rock but these guys rock. Another tune I would recommend listening to, 8/10.

The final song on the list is a song called ‘Now Your Armies Are Broken’ which I feel takes a very different approach at the beginning to the other two, it starts very mellowly and downbeat. But after the intro it builds up however still staying a lot more downbeat than the other two, but still very good. I think it’s good to see that this band can change up their sound as it provides good evidence of the range that they have. But then as the song goes on it really begins to build up but still sticking to that mellow yet powerful beat, I particularly like the lyric ‘materialistic liars’ as that is such a powerful phrase. This is my favourite so far but mainly because I like the mellow tunes a lot, I’d compare this to something that Glasvegas might have produced. 10/10.

I’m not going to detail all of their songs as I feel you guys should just get on Spotify and listen to them for yourselves, this is just to give you a feel for what type of band they are and to see if it is something you guys would be interested in. For me, I love them already and will be hoping to see them live when the opportunity arises. I hope you guys enjoyed the blog make sure to like, comment and subscribe. Make sure to check out Hi, Charity on all major platforms as they deserve to be heard. Thank you.
