Hi guys and welcome to a new blog today reviewing the debut single 'Wild & Free' by the Nottingham based ban 'Katharsis.' The band recently got in touch about me reviewing their latest and first single which came out on all platforms on the 10th of April 2020. In the past, I've reviewed another Nottingham based band Near Mrs who are an excellent outfit so I was very excited to hear Katharsis. A bit about the band; The band describe themselves as being from 'all over', the guitarist Randy Lamotte was born and raised in Switzerland. Lead singer Nara Santos is from Portugal, bassist Tim Davies was born in Nottingham and finally the drummer Jacob Barker who is from Stourbridge in the West Midlands. So a very interesting dynamic forming already. So far the band have played gigs at the Rough Trade in Nottingham (A well-known venue), Alberts in Nottingham as well as Billy Bootleggers and the NTU Student Union for last years Battle of the Bands. The band are planning to hold a new release gig for the single when all this COVID-19 stuff passes and it is safe to go out. The band take inspiration from many different artists and bands such as Royal Blood, Nirvana, Muse, The 1975 and the list goes on. All insanely good bands indeed, they describe their soundscape as being similar to The Amazons (who I have seen twice and are phenomenal) and Cleopatrik. All very good stuff from the band, very excited to hear their stuff and future stuff. The single begins with a very nice and cool sound which is then joined by vocals, strong vocals sung very very well. The vocals are all very well written and the melody is structured particularly well, making the combination of the two very good. As the chorus builds up the drums and another guitar come in, creating the Royal Blood type sound which is well sone and a nice change-up. The tune is a very good representation of the band members musical inspirations as I believe it has aspects of their musical styles littered throughout the song. I really enjoyed listening to the song, it is a very well written piece of music and musically it has been put together along with the instrumental really well. This song is definitely a tune for the Indie playlist if you guys have one, and if you don't have one make one. The band are very talented and I'm sure have a bright future in this industry, I look forward to hearing more from them in the future and hopefully getting the chance to see them. Thank you guys for reading and make sure to go give Katharsis a follow via the links below. As always make sure to comment below and share with your friends, thank you. Peace.
